- REAL-HOCKEY’S MESSAGE BOARD -

I have decided to make our Message Board 100% Registration Required. I have gone back and forth on whether we should allow “guest” to have access to this message board and have came to the conclusion that this Exclusive Member Only message board will require people to “earn” the right to visit here.

How can anyone ask for our leaders, coaches, teachers, etc. to stand up and be difference makers if we allow strangers to stalk and prey on Children, Organizations, Coaches and other people in some “open” forum with no safety and security in place to prevent this?

Other Message Boards owners “hide” behind things like your right to privacy and the freedom of speech mumble jumble so they can scare you into believing you are “safe” on their site(s). Here are some facts on that matter. Ezboard requires you to provide a valid email address that’s all. As for the owners such as me and all the others, we get nothing but an IP address of anyone who posts that’s it. Your username provides us with nothing but a name of your choosing. No email address, no personal information, etc.

Com Ed, Ameritech, AOL, Nicor, etc. all have far more information than I or the others will ever have. If you really believe you live in a world where some of these companies don’t “sell” your personal information to solicitors and marketing companies then I am truly sorry you are so naïve. As for your “freedom of speech” concept let me ask you whose voice is loudest, some brave speaker who hides behind being a guest or someone who creates a username that shows accountability and consistency? Where is the reliability in hiding this way?

It’s a new world in which you should DEMAND that your leaders, teachers, coaches, priests, daycare employees, etc. be screened and have had their backgrounds checked to ensure the most safe environment for your children and the safety of all. We, as with so many things, expect this but don’t believe we should comply with these same rules and regulations as those other individuals. Only one thing comes to mind when I write and read this… Do onto others as you expect others to do to you.
